The party

Afek Tounes (آفاق تونس - Tunisia's Horizons) was established on 28 March 2011 by Mohamed Louzir, as a "liberal social party". The party was a founding member of Al Joumhouri (Republican party), established in April 2012, from which it withdrew in August 2013 to create the "new" Afek Tounes.

The party obtained 76,488 votes (1.9%; 8th most voted party) in the 2011 general election, securing 4 seats (out of 217) in the new Constituent Assembly. It obtained 102,916 votes (3.0%; 5th most voted party) in 2014, securing 8 seats in the Assembly of the People's Representatives. The party signed in 2018 the Carthage Agreement that led to the establishment of the Government of National Union; Afek Tounes withdrew in January 2018 from the Carthage Agreement.
In the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections, Afek Tounes supported the candidate representing Nidaa Tounes.
